Sony DCR-DVD505E DVD Camcorder Announced

The new Sony DCR-DVD505E (DCRDVD505E) DVD camcorder features high-resolution picture quality with the ClearVid CMOS Sensor and Enhanced Imaging Processor, ensuring better movie quality at low light.

The ClearVid CMOS Sensor is able to provide wider dynamic range, reduced smear images, high sensitivity, low noise, high-speed processing and low power consumption.

The Sony DCR-DVD505E also offers high quality Still Image Recording, and Dual Rec - allowing you to capture high resolution still picture while you are shooting movie footage.

Realistic sound is achieved with the built-in Dolby Digital® 5.1ch surround sound microphone combined with easy viewing via the large 3.5-inch Clear photo LCD plus screen.

The newSony DVD camcorder range offers lightweight models with increased Stamina battery power, a new visual index screen clearly explaining the camcorder functions that uses colour coding and picture icons to indicate the mode the camcorder is in. 

All models also support DVD-R/ -RW/+RW recording compatibility and there is no need to finalise operation with DVD+RW.*

Sony provides a wide variety of accessories to maximise the Handycam shooting experience and address the diverse needs of consumers. All potential requirements are covered, from lenses to microphones, from lights to high-power batteries and from tripods to stylish carrying cases. New additions to the camcorder accessory line from Sony in 2006 include:

The ECM-HW1 wireless microphone, using Bluetooth  technology, is designed to add further depth and clarity to your audio recording  and is easily attached by clipping onto clothes, worn around the arm, around the neck or placed nearby. The microphone communicates with the receiver unit wirelessly at up to 30M distance. With DVD505, 405, or 404 models, this microphone works as a centre microphone of 5.1ch surround sound.

The ACC-FP71 value accessory kit contains three indispensable items to accompany your camcorder, offering a saving on the price of buying them separately. The kit contains the NP-FP71 high capacity battery, the LCS-VAC carrying case and shoulder belt.

Sony also offers the LCM-HCF, a new Semi Soft Carrying Case for easy storage and carrying of your Handycam - this is available for DVD505, 405 and 404. The new semi soft carrying case the LCN-HCF is available for the DVD205 and 105. A new sports pack, the SPK-HCB is compatible with the new MiniDV and DVD Handycam models, offering waterproofing for up to 5 metres.

The HVL-10NH is a high power 10w light. Compatible with all new Handycam models, it is supplied with an Accessory Shoe Adaptor.

The new DVD Handycam line up from Sony will be available throughout Europe from February 2006.
